hi guys,
off up to keilder for the first time tomorrow. There looks to be 4 'proper' trails - 3 red and 1 black - any ideas which is the best / most fun?
cheers,

Deadwater is where the good stuff lives... Red and black are both good and share the climb. It's not all that long so it's easy enough to do the red and black- though, the black climb Up and Over is bloody hard work if you choose to ride it all rather than push up it like most folks seem to.
The very top climb and descent is a bit pants IMO, it's a long draggy climb just to hurtle down a smashed-up fall-line fire road. It's not that it's so bad, it's just that you don't get much return on your climbing investment. So I personally would not bother doing that, and stay on the lower slopes where the good stuff is.
It's good though. Bit of a different flavour to your Glentresses etc. Go on a hot day and the sandy soil can make you feel like you're in spain or something.Uncompromising extremist0
