Replacing Sidi insoles

Hi all,

I recently bought a pair of Sidi and find that the insoles are thin, slipery and unsupportive for my flat feet. My old pair of Shimano are super comfortable in all aspects but the Sidis are a lot lighter and stiffer (and sexier!). I have tried putting the Shimano insoles into the Sidis but they are too wide to be confortable (both size 43).

Do you guys have any recommendation as to what other insoles fit well for flat feet with Sidis? I have heard good things about Specialized BG high performace foodbeds and will give them a try at the LBS this weekend, anyone have experience with them?

    Specialized BG footbeds are good.

I'm currently using Sole insoles, which you heat in the oven and they mold to your foot. I have them in my SIDIs and they are very comfortable. http://www.return2fitness.co.uk/Foot_Care/Insoles_and_Footbeds/soleregular
Can be a bit cheaper in some ebay shops.

Specialized BG are very good - but, if you are tight in your Sidis currently, don't go for them as they are quite a thick footbed and can make the shoe too tight.

If you've room to move - go for it.

I went for them, but found them a little too tight on the longer stuff.

I ended up with Superfeet blacks - and they are AMAZING - all knee, foot, ankle etc. problems are gone now (I had them fitted and shimmed at the heels during a bike fitting session).

I have Sidas Conformable (via Adrian Timmis at Cadence Sport) in my Genius road shoes and Superfeet Blues in Dominator MTB.

The Sidas are great and would be my first choice but Adrian is 120miles away :(

Superfeet pretty good in Dominators but did not work so well for me in Genius as they created a bit of a ridge under the balls of my feet (despite the Dominators being suposedly the same last as the Genius). This was even worse with Superfeet Yellow which I returned on the fit guarantee.

The Sidi insoles are without doubt egg on the face of otherwise excellently crafted shoes.

Sorry to hijack, but this is something I'm looking into at the mo.

The Sole mouldable insoles, do they come with pre-set arch support, or is the arch also mouldable?

I use a 5 year old pair from a specialized £50 pair of shoes in my sidi genius. The sidi ones are crap, the spesh BG stuff is lovely.

thanks guys, I think I will start with the easiest option and give the specialized insoles a try first. I am in Oz/NZ so getting the insoles as recommended by others might not be the easiest. Though I think wiggle sells Superfeet.

    Cheers guys!

Yeah, the arch is also moldable. They come with quite a high arch and it squashes to your foot shape when you put them on out of the oven.
They're working well for me and I have a history of knee and Achilles problems.

I got my Superfeet via Wiggle although I knew what I was buying as I have had a couple of pairs over the years for walking & golf shoes.

Cyclefit in London are stocking the E-soles semi-custom footbed which may be similar to the Specialized. Sidas mouldable are now being fitted in the new Fizik R1 shoe but it's a £300 shoe.
