My 10 speed XT rear mech has lost tension after 600 miles. It just dangles vertically from the hanger and doesn't spring backwards to keep the chain tight.
Is there anything that I can do to the mech or does it need to be binned?

TIA

there is a screw on the mech that puts pressure on a small tab on the frame

turn it untill the mech tighten up, not too much now

  • It has spring tension if you push the cage forward but only springs back to the vertical position and no further back.

  • Fixed it! The stop screw on the cage had come out and when I taken the chain off the thing span round 360. Only noticed this after I had the spring out completely. Cage spun back round and new stop screw fitted and it is all good!
