FWIW My friend's Cayo has that same line on the top and she has happily ridden it for over a year now.
If it really bothers you, you could send it back of course but I would not do that if you like the bike otherwise (especially given these specs compared to what you paid for it).

Just re-read the copy / paste text my post. If you got the 20% discount then the 30 day test ride doesn't apply
  • My Cayo has the same line on the top. I was disappointed with it for about 20 minutes (the length of time it took me to adjust everything and get kitted up for a ride). After that I was as happy as a pig in sh*t, as for the price it is a fantastic bike.

Apart from the line, did we manage to get you the right size frame or did we sell you a lemon with recommending the larger frame?

matt , ive just got a cayo a few weeks ago and mine was the same .to be honest when i saw them join lines i thought yuk ! but after about 5 minutes i wasnt bothered and when your riding you wont notice them . At least no 2 cayo's finish look exactly the same .

I think that is "fairly" normal for that kind of bare carbon finish (for that kind of carbon, rather than the criss-cross weave). You do see the imperfections of the frame as there is no paint to hide it. Saying that there are quite a few imperfections.

Whatever Wiggle's policy on discounted bikes and 30 day return you can return under the distance selling act if you are unhappy. If you think you can't live with it and all you will see when looking at the bike are these imperfections then return now and get a different bike.

Guys the finish is entirely normal. It's the normal appearance of raw uni-directional carbon fibre. It is not paint, the raw frame has simply been lacquered. No paint = less weight. It might not be alot of weight but a nice white paint job may be 150g or so. Personally such a small amount of weight means very little to me, to others it may be reason to buy that frame.

UD finish looks fairly industrial but i like it on my bike and when the sunlight catches it, it's quite striking.

Thanks for everyones replys on this.

I went for a 20mile ride on it last night and honestly could not care less about the marks.

    The bike is lush!

Its my first road bike but it just seemed to work, to fit right, well its just RIGHT!
It was also my first time with clip-ins and i was loving it.

it hought the bike was supposed to make m journey easier, but all it did was make me push harder and faster with a grin on my face - very rewarding!

The fit is spot on - thanks to all for their help.

This forum - especially thread - has made a tough decision easy.
Foresight, critical, enthusiastic and some funny remarks ahve made the buying of my first road bike a joy.
    Thank you.

i think less typing more pedalling is definately on the cards

The finish on the bike is specified on the Wiggle site, buyer beware and look at what you're buying first. If you don't like it then buy something else. They even have a high res image on their site showing you the finish, I don't know what else they can do tbh.

I'm late to this but I love my Cayo 105 Compact - and, yes, it has the same finish.

To bling it up (if you start to do some more miles), RS80 wheels have finished it off nicely.
