Racing on a Cross bike

With the cyclo cross season coming up I'd like to get some good off road training, in some mountain biking events as I can't afford to buy another bike are you aloud to compete in mtb events on a cross bike?

    Sorry to say it but no you can't. you can race cross on a mtb but not the other way round.
    if you put flat bars on your bike they will let yourace

    Thanks for the info. I'll have to see if I can pick up some flat bars, break levers and shifters off ebay.

    In temr sof "proper" races this might be true - but I have seen cross bikes at Merida events - now called CRC events! so worth trying?

    And at Gorrick events. You can't race BC sanctioned races (Southern XC, Midlands XC, Soggy Bottom, Thetford Winter Series etc), but unsanctioned races you can do what you want, unless the organisers specifically ban it.
