That'll be expensive should you ever crash.

As metioned previosuly, Rapha, like Assos, offer a free crash repair service - so you can take those corners as hard as you like. :D

Hmm...I wonder if they offer the free repair service because they know that fat wallet MAMIL's don't/can't ride on the line so are unlikely to fall off…?

Ahem, if you can't say anything nice, just don't say it.....jealousy is a terrible thing. Right, off out now on my Litrespeed. must remember to leave my submariner in the house and move my convertible out the garage so I can get my bike out without scratching my new carbon wheels, and I'm not even a dentist. :P

I hate reverse snobbery. If you have the money, spend it on a nice bit of kit. What's wrong with wanting to look good? I'm never going to win the Tour so I'd rather look good on my bike (which looks good, too) than shell out for new carbon wheels.
I don't have any Rapha stuff, but my Assos bits of kit are lovely. They don't just look good but "work" very well, too.
Just depends on your priorities. I'm not loaded but I've never wanted to drive, don't have kids, an ex-wife or a mortgage, so I can afford to spend money on luxuries others can't afford and one of those luxuries is clothes.
There's nothing wrong in having a bit of peacock in you. (That comment was asking for trouble
    )

1.) If you were a dentist you'd be able to afford a bigger garage.

2.) Why don't you let your "submariner" friend come out for a ride with you? C'mon, we live in enlightened times.

    That's me in a nutshell :D

NB - I think my comment went a bit over the head

    1. Garage is a double, but half was converted to a sauna.

    2. If my Submariner gets scratched, I will cry, let alone him.

No problem wit the price of Rapha kit and I quite like the look. The main problem for me is that the sizing seems all over the place. Assos and Cervo Rosso go with a proper Italian type fit whereas Rapha jerseys tends to be too baggy for me. I bought one jersey and after two rides it ended up on ebay.
I don't like the reverse snobbery thing and I've never found a cheap piece of cycling kit that comes near some of the better quality products. You get what you pay for in terms of fit, comfort and durability.
  • 3) Same price as Assos but you get a free repair service with Rapha..

But Assos sounds like ASS, and thats not cool.

    4) My bike is a custom fitted steel steed and HTC High Road on a 50 year old will look silly
    5) I am vain, but understated vain

Do you actually believe that Rapha has a monopoly on quality non pro cycle style kit or are you just trying to convince yourself?!!

No - but I like their understated design, sportwool material. Style is subjective. However, Rapha fit and cut is excellent for me, so I ride better. Anyway, I work hard and the precious little time I get on my bike in a week is MY TIME AND FOR ME, so I don't give a monkeys about what you are trying to say..

I notice Rapha are doing a free 30 day return offer on the bib shorts. What happens to any that are returned, they can't sell them as new. Even in a sale, surely they would have to tell you that the shorts have had someone elses meat & two in them. They must be very confident not many will come back. Seems like a cheeky way to have new shorts for a few weeks then send them back!

Got mine yesterday and tried them yesterday morning. No way I'm sending them back. Lovely they are (used the 15% code).
