I wouldn't take advice from an Internet forum on how to treat an Achillies strain or a knee problem or any of the other typical problems. The "training" forum section does sometimes cover this
Most advice is a curious blend of "HTFU!" and/or "Don't move. Lock yourself in a darken room for the rest of the month"0 -
All sorts of problems - achilles tendonosis, hip flex / pressing on nerve, lower back knackered, should problem....
All so i can go and get the crap knocked out of me by my physio! She loves it i'm sure!0 -
Most of the aches/ injuries threads on here are answered in the same way
stop cycling & get your bike properly fitted0 -

I never understand this aproach.
Unless you have funds or insurance - its pretty hard to get treatment advice for a sports injury in the UK. Your GP is typically a 2 week wait - for being told to rest and take ibuprofen - with an implied 'don't f*n bother me again unless your really ill"
If you do get a referral - the time lag generally takes out six weeks - which can be most of a uk summer.
Based on the above - to dis the internet as a source of treatment \ advice seems daft to me - yes its not precise - but reading up and gaining knowlege - can point you in the right direction alot quicker than expecting the £150k pa GP to get his ass into gear.0 -
3 weeks ago i suffered with bad arione-itis of the scrotum,i cured it by selling that saddle0

I can't run - cos of knees - currently can't even sit on a bike - because of sitbone and lower back ache.
Thing is I am a pretty big eater ! - the weight is already going up in under a month of the bike - swimming bores me ......can anyone suggest another sport !!!!0 -

spinning? normally more upright with big comfy saddles. Yoga and/or pilates too.....it might just look like a load of stretching, but it bloody works you hard!0 -
I've always wondered about swimming. Everyone says "it is a great all round sport that exercises every part of your body" and yet every time I go swimming the pool is full of fatties :?0

2 weeks ago i came off my mtb and broke my T12, L1 & L2 and also cracked my left acetabular.
Walking around on crutches atm, and also wearing a back brace to keep my back straight all the time. So uncomfortable.
Could possibly get back on the bike in 3/4 weeks.0 -

Hope you do pal - and your attitude seems right anyway.
Its the ultimate irony that tramua injuries - you do seem to recover from - its the niggling aches and panes that come from nowhere that seem to be problematic!0 -
tbh, i think there is no way i'll be getting straight on the bike. Going to pay for a 3 month membership at the gym and just start to get back into fitness by swimming with gentle weight sessions to get my legs, stomach and back muscles back together. If i'm on the bike in september i'll be a happy chap. Means the new 2012 road bikes should be about then and i can place my order!
I know the issue i will have is stiffness. My left leg has already gone really stiff. I can't sit up straight with both legs outstretched, with body to leg angle of 90deg. hamstring is that tight.0 -

I have an appointment with the surgeon on aug 1 - if he agrees to do the jab - it will be 3 weeks wait - at least.....so mid sept before I get back on................at best0
