saddle problems

Hello again
So I've picked up my Specialized Secteur Elite last week and I'm loving it,the gear change is so smooth and the whole bike is just very quick, but there is a problem-the saddle is just like sitting on a plank, very uncomfortable on the sit bones.
Is it that I'm just not used to sitting on a saddle ?(this is my getting back on a bike bike) or do I need something like a Brooks B17?
I'm using padded bibb shorts and they are stopping any chaffing but I'm just plain uncomfortable just sitting on the bike at the moment.I'm 17 1/2 stone so I'm no racing snake yet so should I give it another month or change the saddle now so I can enjoy my riding?

Saddle comfort is a personal thing. So, it's very difficult to advise which saddle is right for you. Perhaps as you've only started cycling again recently you should give your arse a chance to get used to it. I know that when I started cycling a few years ago my arse felt like it had been totally restructured!Where would you be if you fell down a hole?.. Stuck down a hole... in the fog... Stuck down a hole, in the fog, at night... WITH AN OWL!0

I would personally give it a few more rides before spending any money on a new saddle. First ride back is always painful for me but I get used to it after frequent rides.Liquigas CAAD90

Whats your position on the bike like ? Dont forget you should have 1/3 of the weight on the bars and only 2/3 on the saddle.
I'd give it a bit more time to get used to though.0 -

I keep forgetting this as I do tend to sit upright ish on the bike,I'll give that a try tomorrow and report back-thanks for posting!Specialized Secteur Elite-short fat bloke on a light fast bike0 -
As you're 17 1/2 stone, there's a lot of weight going through the old deriere (no offense) - i'm 15 stone and find on long rides it's quite nice to wear 2 pairs of padded shorts. I have some Altura Pro Gels as the base and then some normal padded bib shorts over the top...

no offense taken,I'm here to learn, one of the reasons to get back on a bike is to drop the weight(and because I love it) so I'll give this a try alsoSpecialized Secteur Elite-short fat bloke on a light fast bike0 -
If you do decide to change saddles, there might be a swap that you can do through the classifieds thread on here.0
