Shift Lever Problem

Hi
Can anyone shed any light on this problem....?
I have a Specialized Hardrock with Shimano Acera rapid-fire shifters. All has been fine until I unceremoniously dumped myself and bike into some bushes...now the downshift lever seems to have lost it's 'spring' so doesn't come back into place.
I can shift up ok but shifting down needs me to push the lever back up again.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

Likely you've bent it0

Indeed, suspect the shaft the lever is on is bent and no longer turning freely in the bearings, the spring isn't stiff enough to overcomethis and return the lever.
Some 'working' may free it off, otherwise it's new lever time.

I had a similar issue. In my case it was easy to fix. Turned the bike over, unscrewed the shifter cover, very slightly loosened the big bolt that holds the lever in place and everything together. SImple.
