Llandegla (North Wales) - What's it like?

its fun going down
edited August 2011 in Routes
Hi,

I am thinking of attending the endurance event at Llandegla (North Wales) on the 20th August but I have never been there. Are the trails any good? and more importantly, are they fun to ride?

I am fairly fit and would normally ride the red route.

This will be my first endurance event and I'm really nervous! Any tips / advice?

If anyone else fancies going here is a link to the event web site

Cheers, Jon.

i rode there for the first time about 3 weeks ago..the trail is OK as far as trail centres go..not too tough or technical.

but i think, and i may be wrong, that the endurance event thingy isn't on the regular trail?

    maybe yeehaa will know more?

Previous events are on a custom laid out course, you can normally see some of the direction signs left out when you go there.

Llandegla is brilliant by the way! The black is a little easier than some other blacks and gets critisized by some for being too easy, but it is HUGE fun. Loads of jumps, drops, berms table tops, northshore, pretty much everything... and its VERY fast and flowing all the way round. It is very 'man made' in comparison to say Nant Yr Arian but its been done briliantly

It will always be my favourate place to go..and Ill be there on Thursday!

a question regarding Llandegla, can you ride the trainls after the centre shuts? I know the car park shuts at a certain time, but do the trails stay open, or do they get blocked off or anything?

wednesday used to be the (semi?) official late opening but you can ride up and onto the trails whenever.

park in the moors pub (on the way back towards wrexham) and there is a (closed to vehicles) road to the centre: out of the car park right and right again: trail centre is 1 mile on.

have a pint after for use of the facilities

but stay safe up there in the dark 8)

Kev - I'll be there (with 3 other mates) on Thursday evening, starting off at about the time you're getting there. I'll be in a (hairdressers) silver Merc.

As we never got round to going on that ride around Cwmcarn then this might do it!!

You can, but don't do it. OnePlanetAdventure cop a load of greif from the forestry, and have been told to keep bikers off the trails when the cafe/shop is shut.

    Yes I do!
The trailcenter will be open on the day of the enduro, but at a massively reduced capacity. It seems the 10 mile enduro course shares a lot of trail with the red route.

I've entered, and so far, that's pretty much all the info I have on it, apart from when we need to sign in, and starting times.
I'm guessing (hoping) we'll get more info in the next week or so.
