The Mucky Nuts mudguard is the best I've ever used for keeping crap put of your face, much more effective than a downtube one. Doesn't stop you getting a liberal coating from the chest down though.
I like the Ardent on the back, it grips well in all conditions for both traction and braking and comes up big for it's size so plenty of cushioning. Never tried it on the front though. My only criticism is that it can squirm around a bit but I put that down to running it tubeless on a narrow rim (19mm internal), would be much better suited to a wider one. The Maxxpro compound seems to be a good compromise between grip and wear, I've run it for over 6 months now and it still has plenty of tread left.0
