sore knees!!

I have just started road riding and im suffering with knee pain, { knee caps are very tender and stiff) i think i have the bike set up right, i need advice!

    Lot's of possibilities for knee problems.
    1) Did you have knee problems before?
    2) Technique can be a major problem, but you'd need someone else to look at that while you are riding.
    3) Saddle height, too high and you are reaching to far, too low and you aren't extending enough so your knees come up to high..
    4) Bike geometry, too stretched out changes the angle you push down on.
    5) Shoe to pedal position, you can move your cleats laterally and up/down to get the most natural position.
    6) Have you been exercising regularly prior to the bike? A sudden change in levels of exercise won't help, it should be gradual.

    You are unlikely to find the answer on here, you need to be sure you have the bike set up, ensure the bike is the right size, and all the above. Setting a bike up right can take alot of work. A GP will be able to confirm alot more than you will get here.
