10 mile tt

hi eevry 1,iam wanting to do a 10mile tt! ive never cycled a road bike in my life,i have mountain biked from an early age tho and i do commute frequently on my mountain bike with sliks!

what woyld be a good starting time to aim for? any advice please?

    A good time is whatever you can get, say somewhere between 20-30 mins.

    As for advice, start slow, then open up the taps and PLF to the line.

    If you're use to MTB then aim for a steady pace of 25mph

    my first 10 was 23 years ago ! in a club event on a mountain bike , did a 26; something mins.
    sort of went down hill from there though.
    Fundamently it does`nt matter, your competing against yourself and nobody will think any less of you for being on a mountain bike.

    thanks for the advice guys, i do think 25mph is too fast?

    i commut to work which is 8 miles and my p.b is 29minutes!

    this taking into account trafficlights,junctions etc.....
  • For your first 10 and no previous experience 30 mins for a 20 mph average is a good target to aim for. That provides a decent base for which there is plenty of room for improvement.
