Rear mech cage lengths...question??

Hi,

I am building another HT with 11-34 cassette and a single ring up front, and wondered if it matters what length cage I use on the rear mech?

I have been looking at an XT with medium cage, will this be OK for my build?

Also, what different applications do the different cage lengths have?

It depends on capacity. You need a capacity of 34-11 = 23.

Short cage should cover this.

Yeah, will work fine, but a short should give you less slap and tighter shifts.
