Pro riders - pay?
IIRC, back when I was a lad and used to care about such things, most pro cyclists (domestiques) got paid fairly poorly, with only the top stars really making decent money.
Is this still the case? What sort of money would an average pro team rider get, and how much would a star get?

It's just a hill. Get over it.

So the lowest for a pro-Tour neo-pro is £24,000.0 -
I saw a quote yesterday that said the all the riders on pro tour teams (approx 480) combined earn less than the Olympic lyonnaise football team0

From a 2009 UCI press release:
The average salary of professional riders rose from 70,000 euros a year (2002) to 136,000 euros (2009).
The increases were considerable for riders in Professional Continental Teams (2002: 20,000 euros; 2009: 60,000 euros) as well as their colleagues in UCI ProTeams (2002: 100,000 euros; 2009: 190,000 euros).Twitter: @RichN950 -
