Quite amazing that the most successfull team is potentially sponsor-less. Hopefully he'll have another backer lined up.0

Inrng just tweeted no press conf today.
So I guess we'll be waiting for last rites for a bit more.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -
or the new sponsor is not ready to be announced?
Surely, with the Cav wins and all the TV time they've had with TVG etc people would want to sponsor them?0 -

Well Cav is leaving...
So is Tony. And TvG. And and and...Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -
I'm surprised that many find it so difficult to understand how the "most successful" team finds it hard to attract sponsors.
I don't think it's any indicator that proicycling is in any worse shape than usual.
The most successful teams will also demand the highest fees from sponsors. Due to the team's results, and the stars he has, Bob will want a huge sum from a title sponsor. Potential sponsors might want to get into cycling but aren't prepared to commit the tens of millions he wants. They might think it makes more business sense to be title sponsor to a slightly cheaper team (Movistar) or be a minor sponsor to a big team (Mercedes at Leopard).
Without Cav and other stars, his overhead will be less, and he can make do with less sponsorship, but the team becomes less attractive to sponsors. HTC may well fold, but I don't thinbk it's a death knell for procycling or anything of the sort. The team might just have bcome too big and expensive for the sort of money people want to put into cycling. Sponsors might well think they'd be better off with football or F1 for that sort of money.0 -
Bob has been saying for a few weeks how HTC will be doing what they have always done next year i.e. developing talent. With Cav et al they brought them on from neo pros etc mostly. I guess for sponsors losing big names and investing money in development requires big bucks too but with a higher risk of no return in terms of results. Saying that if they kept riders like Deganklob then I would expect they would bring on a new breed of talent to capture some headlines, whether it's enough to dethrone those leaving (Cav, Goss, Renshaw etc) I am not sure.0

How much would we be talking here? 20m eur?
Seems a lot of advertising for that kind of money.0 -
I don't know if they've become too expensive. After all, the rumour mill says Bob has been funding a large chunk of it himself. And the team were known for not being the best payers.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0

But with all the speculation and rumour of Cav, Goss and Renshaw moving on, The Cav wins will mean nothing to a sponser next season, If an offer was on the table, and i was then told oh by the way, theres no Cav next year, i would be unsure whether to hand over millions to a team thats not going to get the same level of publicity as it has previous seasons.0 -
Advertising is not just about the immediate Cav crossing the line, its also about column inches etc where the name gets mentioned; sort of sub-concious advertising.
I work for a global car company, and its not just about the immediate crossing the line.
Though, it woul dbe hard to bring a new sponsor with all the replicate alreeady printed for the year IMO...0 -

Not sure how I feel about that in terms of value. Sounds about right? :?:0 -

TBH, I'd be surprised if you'd get away that lightly in F1. The current average annual cost of a team is nearly $170 million, with the runt of the litter, HRT, still costing over $50 million.'This week I 'ave been mostly been climbing like Basso - Shirley Basso.'0 -

I was surprised as well. It was from a feature on the BBC website, but it was a few years old (didn't seem to have a date on it)
