I don't know if you've seen the ad during the TdF on Eurosport, but I really fancy the Tacx Genius VR Turbo Trainer (that you hook up to your laptop or whatever,) and (virtually) race against other riders...

It doesn't come out 'til Winter '11 (according to the Tacx Website.)

Do you recon it'll cost a mint?

    How much for a turbo??
    Why?
100 quid or so on a 2nd hand one will suffice and a trio of Sufferfests to keep the legs pumping .. at least then if it becomes an ornamental clothes hanger you aint pee'd away a grand.

I used to use a basic trainer with sufferfest vids but managed to pick up a cheap (£300) iMagic in the sales. It really is very good, although I still think Sufferfest is the best for proper interval session pain.

I bought a 1 year old Tacx Fortius last year for £300 cash, which is the model up from the iMagic... just need to be patient and find the right deal.

They are good fun though and take the boredom out of being inside. Plus you can get the steerer as well.

I'd love one, but dunno if I can justify £1200
