Non Clipped shoes

I have my first road bike and am enjoying my new riding experiences, I am up to about 100 mile a week with 2 x 30 and a 40 on a weekend but am starting to get sore feet.
I presume that my current trainers are now not up to the job but am not really keen on the idea of my feet being clipped in just yet. Can anyone suggest a pair of shoes or can I use the normal cycling shoes and not attach the cleats.
