12hr TT - what if it rains?

Doing my first 12 hr TT (Elmet CRC) in 3 weeks. I've only done a 10 and a 25 previously.
If you have to put no.s on your arms and back, what happens if it rains heavily and you need to put a jacket on? :? - won't they get covered up?
Or do you just get (potentially) very cold/catch a cold?
(not a problem for as shorter distance, but 12 hours? )

Shout your number loud when you cross the finish.
Or if you've taken the time to stop and put a jacket on that was previously slowing you by being baggage, put your arm number at least on the outside of it.
Or get a transparent waterproof.
Or if rains forcast wear a baselayer and deal with it.
In all instances still shout your number when finishing just to make sure.
And you don't catch a cold from getting wet or cold. You may suffer hypothermia though :twisted:0 -

You'll still be going too fast for the rain to wet you. Still generating tto much heat to need a waterproof layer.
If you are obviously passing a marshal or timekeeper and your number is obscured, then shout out your number so they know.
PS You don't "cross the finish line" in a 12 hr (or 24hr). You pass a series of timekeepers on the finishing circuit, and they interpolate your distance between the last timekeeper you passed pre 12 hrs and the first you pass post 12:00 hrsCommute: Langster -Singlecross - Brompton S2-LX
