Removing SRAM Crankset

Quick question: Do I need to loosen the 16mm bolt on the left-hand side arm before removing a SRAM crankset, or just the 8mm? I'm sure it's the latter, but it won't budge.

No, the 16mm is what the 8mm pushes against to 'self extract'. So that should be tight. The 8mm does get tough to remove, best way is a longer allen key to get more leverage. I find it helps if you line the place the allen so you can squeeze it against the crankarm so it is like a scissor motion...

Thanks Charlie. Just as I thought, just need a longer Allen key.
Edit: Tried again with short allen and "scissor" action. Chainset now changed. Just hope it's tight enough :?0
