Want some advice on gearing..currently running Tiagra F & R with 105 Flightdeck shifters and would like to upgrade. My question is this - for non competitive cycling is the differene between 105 & Ultegra worth the cost?
P.S After advice from you guys decided to stick with my Elites instead of handmades that might be expensive to sevice.

Depends on how much you want to spend, weight is the main difference, some will say that shifting is slightly better, imo. that's down more to set-up!0 -
I've used both Tiagra and Dura-Ace front mechs with 105 shifters and couldn't tell the difference. If you have Tiagra I'm guessing you're 9 speed? My only justification for upgrading the components would be to run 10 speed, but even then it's a lot of money for little gain.http://www.strathspey.co.uk - Quality Binoculars at a Sensible Price.

If you buy new then of course not, but i think you already know that
On the other hand if you pick up some second hand Ultegra shifters in top condition and sell the 105s then maybe it is worth itHe is not the messiah, he is a very naughty boy !!0 -
Think I'll take advice and simply change Front & Rear mesh to 105 after I get another winter out of Tiagra bits and put money towards new bike next year.
Thanks all.C490
