They're terrible to be frank, better off with a rigid single speed 26" wheel bike or saving up more money if you have to buy new ! Second hand will fare a lot better0

A rigid bike will be pretty horrible for downhill. Some of the younger lads I race with ride Giant STP's and they are impressively quick and a better buy than a cheap old full sus. My hardtail with 160mm forks only has an advantage over the jump bikes when things get really gnarly.
26" wheels are definitely better than 24" for downhill.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
My son has a Scott Voltage YZ25. My main issue with it is that it is very heavy. Also, the components are low spec. The fork isn't as bad as my old Dart but it is nothing to write home about. I changed a few components and my son does use it for jumping and general trail riding but it isn't ideal for either of those pursuits.0

I'm not suggesting a rigid bike is ideal, far from it....however a full cromo rigid bike from a reputable manufacturer will take a whole heap more abuse than the bikes listed !
Have you been to halfords and seen the voodoo jump bikes ? Superb for the money was my first thought with them !0 -
what about the giant brass 1 2010 ?0
