Hi there...

well im new to the world of Road bikes and hoping for some advice...
I have now purchased the shoes, jersey, bib, helmet and gloves...just one thing missing...
.....THE BIKE! haha

i have been reading and researching for the last month but i really am jumping in at the deepened...

i have a max budget of £1200 and have looked/sat on models below....

Cube Attempt...£1000...Great reviews!
Vitus Dark Plasma...£1034...good reviews
Btwin Facet 3...£899...decathlon (3.1/2 out of 5)
Btwin Facet 5...£1199 (Decathlon)??? helpful staff!

im favoring the Cube Attempt and the Fairly Unknown Btwin Facet 5 at the moment purely on The shops help and feel on bike...Facet 5 caught my eye if im honest.

Would i be disappointed if i chose the facet 5 from decathlon???..

Im not snobbish about brands and the staff spent almost 2 hours with me instore so has left a good impression.. and it seems to have great Spec/components but no reviews anywear!...the bikes 7.9kg,Carbon,Full Sram, mavic wheels,Look pedals etc...

Hopefully someone can Help/reasure me and im open to other Bike suggestions too....rather wait to make the right choice :)

  • I just bought a Cube Attempt and I'm well pleased with it. I would test ride as many as you can which should make your choice easier. I did it round the other way; bought the bike first and am using my MTB gear until I can afford to buy some road gear

What do you want to use the bike for?

Usually people buy the clothing to colour match the bike. I think you will have to do visa versa.
Ribble do some good bikes in that range.
I must admit the Btin is very well specced, as far a the frame 5 year warranty has got to be good.

    Considered a boardman?

If your not a brand snob they are very good value and they do not let the "trainees" touch them , i just got a comp and its a great bike.

I will always favour the cube as I have a cube and they are great bikes but the spec on the btwin 5 is hard to beat.

    Cheers for the replys guys....

well my starting Aim is for fitness work but also for long rides on a sunday...im aiming to ride a minimum of 3 times a week and go from there...i live in the country side in kent.

I have looked at the Boardman Bikes as always get good reviews but have been to 2 different halford stores in the Kent Area and on all occasions had a pretty poor experience....one unhelpful staff and second time they had all the bikes locked up and they had lost the keys to unlock!

i have ordered a Facet 5 from decathlon and its 4 weeks wait as i wanted one Straight from the Factory so i have 4 weeks to look for other bikes until then...Still like the cayo and also Planet x bikes...just sooo many to choose from especially as im new to Road bikes from MTB.
