my mate has just bought a 2007 stumpjumper fsr anyone out there got any idea what the BB shell size is?

73mm I think. But very easy to measure straight accross to double check. All modern external BB cranks like HT2 and GXP will fit as they come with spacers.0

but as it has Shimano HT2 BB it does not really matter. and if you are not fitting an External BB cranks set you need your head looking at.

Nah, that is a BB30 bottom bracket shell. Yours is a 'standard' shell either 68 or 73mm.
