Removing Shimano Dura Ace brake pads

I need to change all 4 pads on my Dura Ace 7800 brakes, but two of the four 2mm allen head screws holding them in are stuck. I've already broken one 2mm allen key and now the heads have stripped in two of the screws with a new stronger key.
What to do? Can I drill them out?
I've already bought new pads, so dont really want to fork out for new shoes+pads.
Thanks

You can get really good value shimano brake shoes from uberbike, £7 a pair I think. If you are worried about the quality of the rubber and would prefer to use the pads you have bought you could just remove the ones that come fitted. Ive got a set and even in sora brake mechs they are very effective.0

You could give the threads a good squrt with WD40, cut a slot in the head of the retaining bolt with a hacksaw and try unscrewing with a decent screwdriver. However, you haven't got much metal to play with and I suspect that the head will simple break leaving you no choice but to drill out...but a 2 mm bolt will be very tricky, you will break at least one drill bit and probably ruin the thread whilst you are at it...and you will probably have to come up with new retaining bolts...
If you do replace the blocks (which I am kind of heading towards) then at least you have some spare pads for next time. Good luck though. let us know how you get on.0 -
See post passim about two weeks ago on this - full instructions therein to get chewed up bolts out and putting new pads in.
Put it this way - its not very difficult.
Search fundction at the top of the page will help you.0 -
