right ive got a grand to spend on a new bike, i need a bike with ideally a compact, able to take my massive (muscular ) frame, and also with decent wheels that will take the strain, i want to buy a bike and not have to upgrade anything on it, i had possibly planned on buying a boardman but halfords service was crap :x ....so whats best for the cash

Cayo 105 from Wiggle if you must have carbon

Canyon Roadlite 6.0 or 7.0 from Canyon if you are happy with Alu. This is a great value bit of kit.

Or a Cube Attempt £999, stiff Alu frame for a big fella and 105 Groupset with solid Fulcrum 7 wheels. Gotta be worth a look. (I think this was the Cycling Plus £1000 bike of the year this year?)

    Alu frame?

Cannondale CAAD 9 if you can find one!
Or CAAD 10 if you can stretch the budget to fit!

At £879 for a cayo 105 with the TOUR discount that must be the best deal around right now. For that money its a no brainer - may even order one myself!!

What's Halfords service quality got to do with anything? If you want a Boardman buy it from Halfords and then either get your LBS to do the looking after, or discover what a complete doddle it is to maintain a bike. Halfords need never see it again once it's out of the door.

  • that focus cayo looks well worth the money, enquired with wiggle as to my frame size but im a bit wairy...im 6ft 4" with an inside leg of 33" i already have 2 bikes, one 59cm and one 61cm and there advising me on the 58cm and not the 60cm frame....both my bikes at the moment are comfortable when riding, if i bought one i need to get the right size :?

I am 6ft 1in and I have the 60cm cayo, perfect. you are either wanting the 60cm or the 62cm. The larger the frame the more upright you will be (better suited for touring) or the 60cm would be more head down (ideal for racing). I think you could be a bit cramped on the 58cm

check them out! great value for money, and good components for the price.
delivery times on bikes can be longer than explained (as i found out),
    but extremely good value
  • decided to go for the focus this morning and the XXL frame......SOLD OUT :x ..my own fault.....so the search continues :?

Are you sure they are sold out - wiggle site says in stock

Their site may say in stock but it doesn't always mean they have it. Ordered some glasses yesterday which were in stock, then got email later saying sorry, they hadn't actually got them.
