My First Road Bike Ride....

I'm new to the forum so Hello!
I started cycling in an attempt to lose some weight and found myself really enjoying the cycling at the same time. I invested in a MTB about 1.5 years ago but recently found myself road riding on it more and more with my mates when we meet up. So we all decided it was time to get road bikes.
I have been researching bikes for quite a few months and took a liking to the CAAD9, so Sunday just gone I got one!!
Spent a few days getting bits together, computer, shoes, cleats etc.. And yesterday was my first ride on it. I enjoyed every second of it, the route was a bit shorter than I estimated, 17 miles which took me 1hr 2min, with an average speed of 16mph.
I know thats not going to break any records but it was very windy yesterday and i'm still getting used to the switch from MTB's. It's a starting point that I can improve on.
I would appreciate it if anyone knows of any beginners clcyling clubs around the Epsom in Surrey area.
Cheers,
Billy

Can't help with a club - I'm sure a quick Google will sort you out.
Good on you though, glad you're enjoying it.0 -
Average speed of 16mph is a good starting point, IMHO. Well, after a month I'm happy to be at that level
Good luck finding a club, and please let us know how you get on. I'm tempted to join, but slightly concerned I'll make a fool of myself more than usualSynapse Alloy 105 / Rock Lobster Tig Team Sl0 -
Hi Buddy!
Looking forward going out for a road ride instead of the usual MTB ride when you're down next! Hopefully I'll have my roadie too!0 -
Thanks, one part of the ride I hit 32mph (on a downhill) which was nice.
There's only so much solo riding you can enjoy I imagine so having a cruise around with a group is appealing. It definitely makes MTB's more fun.Liquigas CAAD90
