Bottom Brackets

I have a GXP BB on my Pitch currently. I'm steadily getting into the idea of drops and small jumps and it's now creaking like a trooper. Stripped it out and cleaned it the other day and the creak is still there under even minor load now so I'm assuming that having a fat bloke push a lot of their weight through it on small drops is taking its toll. I was thinking of perhaps replacing the BB and chainset with Howitzer BB and relevant chainset in the hopes that it'll take the punishment a bit better.
Does this sound feasible or am I barking up the wrong tree?

I would go for Hope, on my Marin I had numerous amounts of Shimano BB's some only lasting 6 months...fitted Hope and had no problems.

Basic Deore should have no problems with normal jumps and drops.
    Sure it's the BB creaking?

It is BB for sure. I've checked to make sure there are no cracks in the frame, it's not the pedal bearings and I took the rear suspension and the BB apart at the weekend, cleaned and greased everything and put it all back together. There was a tiny bit of noise under load at the same point in the pedal stroke but it's got much worse over the last few days. Might take the BB off again and check to see if it's got horrid grit in it or something as I've only had it or 6-8 months.

just replace the BB. changing to a Howitser will be a waste of money.

Sounds like it's just worn out, nothing to do with jumping etc, Truvativ BBs just aren't that great lifespan-wise. If you really want to change, swap over to Shimano, the BBs last better and don't have any compatability issues.

Before you do, try removing, greasing and replacing the chain ring bolts. I thought my BB was creaking so removed, regreased and refitted it and greased the pedal threads but to no avail. I greased all chainring bolts and no more noise.
