Snapped chains, do you sill trust them.

Pulling out a junction in a hard gear, and, crack the chain snaps. I've repaired it, but does that indicate that the chain has had it's day and is likely to do it again? The cassette isn't worn and is relatively new so I could just stick a new chain on it I suppose.

The link cracked over a rivet.

If you're riding in gears with a lot of cross--over i.e. big ring to big sprocket then you put a lot of side-load on the chain resulting in snapped chains. It's worse for new chains as they are less flexible.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

I'd have been in about 50 - 15, the other thing I noticed was how easy the chain split, sometimes they are tight, this was easy.

I've got a fairly hilly ride on Saturday and I don't want it to snap going up one of them, but then again I don't want to stick a new chain on and get problems due to different wear. :?

I'll probably see if the newish chain on my MTB is long enough and pop that on as it will have a bit of wear on it. (both 9 speed)

    No I woudn't trust it.

A new chain is a lot cheaper than the extensive dental work that may be required if it goes agian at a bad moment.
