hi all.
i have a pro-lite carbon post, but the carbon serrations that bind onto the aluminium saddle rail support have worn down.
i have tried to use araldite to bind the two parts together, but it only was a partial succsess.
it lasted a hundred miles or so before the join cracked.
im thinking about quick metal next.
anybody had succsess with a problem like this?.
cheers!.

Mm. Epoxy would have been my first port of call too.
Technique is everything with Araldite though. Did you apply a bit of sandpaper to the mating surfaces to give the araldite something to grip? Did you take any paint off and degrease it with a good solvent (e.g. petrol)? It's useful to preheat your oven to a low temperature (~60 degrees or so), bond the parts together, then use masking tape to support the joint, and 'cook' it for 30 minutes.
EDIT: Always leave a high stress part for 24 hours before using, even if it's the 15 minute Araldite.- - - - - - - - - -

yeah everthing was clean before application.
no painted surfaces or anything like that.
ive tried it again, with more hardener in it, just over the 50% ratio they suggest.
will c how this goes.
if it dont work, then its either loctite 242, or quick metal.
trouble is im 87kg, so maybe my weight will just be too much for em!. :?0
