Compact to a Standard

How hard is it to swap over from a compact to a Standard.
Currently got a Tiagra groupset but found an Ultegra 6600 Chainset (almost too good to be true, cheap matching crank arm lengths everything)
are they compatible.... especially since ones a 10speed the other 9speed?
Is it just a case of adjusting the front derailer up a fraction for the compact to standard?
I get on fine with the compact but I find I can spin out on the 50/12 gearing I got an 11-25 cassette for the rear so will swap that over but the front makes the biggest change.

Aha - not so fast young D'Artagnan.
I did this on the commuter/trainer: Sora compact to Ultegra 53/39.
Agree completely: take off cranks, fit new cranks, raise front mech, sort chain - 20 minute job, however …..
When you raise the front mech, it brings the band to a new level as its higher up the frame and closer to the tyre.
I never even thought about this until I did it and then realised that 25mm tyres now rub on the back of the band due to no clearance.
No biggie as I run 23s, but annoying if you do run 25s.
To give myself extra clearance I fetched the trusty Dremel and shaved the back of the mech off to give an extra bit of clearance but leaving enough meat on it so that it won't just snap. A dab of paint prevents any corrosion.
You'll probably be fine but worth bearing in mind: just one of those random things that happens I suppose.

didnt actually think about that.... should be fine as the CAAD9 is running 23's (which look like 25's) and theres a bit of room there.going to take the plunge and get it.
Ultegra Standard Crankset 170mm cranks in box for £60 cant really argue with that.FCN: 5/6 Fixed Gear (quite rapid) in normal clothes and clips
