The biggest road race in womens cycling is also on at the moment with two Brits in the top 5 on GC Emma Pooley in 3rd (36 secs down) and Sharon Laws 5th (1min 19secs down) as of 4th July.

Was looking at the results yesterday. Assuming Pooley keeps in touch she should have a great chance at the overall on Thursday when they go over the Mortirolo (and the stages after that one tend also to finish on climbs). Vos needs to put in a good result today/tomorrow to build a bigger lead I think.0

The race goes up the easier side of the Mortirolo, and descends the side the Giro normally uses, which may make the descent more decisive than the ascent.0

Well, its good to know that at least one HTC leadout train didn't make a balls of things yesterday

Nicole Cooke solos to her first win of the season today. Vos retains (and increases) her overall lead.0

Some good racing as usual. Much more fragmented then with the men.
You can see some long footage on here as well as related stuff:

I think maybe you're right – I just watched the stage 3 highlights.
Pooley's descending, at 40 mins into the video, isn't great at all. Vos rides away from her seemingly almost by accident, Pooley's entry into the corners often too tight by comparison..0 -

I've heard before that she's not a great descender, guess she needs the race to finish on a hill to maximise her gains. Looks like there are a couple of possible stages for her to do it though."I have a lovely photo of a Camargue horse but will not post it now" (Frenchfighter - July 2013)0 -
Four stages left and Emma Pooley is still lying third overall 52 secs down on Vos. Today we have the mighty Mortirolo near the back end of the stage then two stages with a mountain top finish and lastly a 16k TT stage0

Results are a bit patchy but it seems Vos won todays stage over the Mortirolo by over a minute.
Vos,
Guderzo,
Brandt,
Arndt,
Pooley
Vos must be the most "complete" pro - male or female - at the moment'This week I 'ave been mostly been climbing like Basso - Shirley Basso.'0 -

I watched the hour-long YouTube video of the stage. Tenacious hanging on to Pooley's wheel up the climb, a counter-attack just before the summit and then great descending by Vos basically won her the stage as Pooley couldn't keep up and was passed by 3 others mid-way down the climb.
One scary moment when the motorbike camera left Pooley and tried to catch Vos on a steep section and then almost overshot a corner probably didn't help Emma's confidence.
Not much room for error on that road: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80PNKBWS ... ge#t=2299s0 -
Very glad Vos didnt suck Pooley's wheel for the entire time then jump her in the last 50m. That would have been very poor form.Contador is the Greatest0

Vos takes another mountain stage - 5 from 9
16km TT tomorrow to wrap things up.Contador is the Greatest0 -
Vos will (unforseen events permitting!) go home with all three jerseys and with a convincing margin.
Pooley's performance is marvelous, hopefully set for second overall, moutains and might get 2nd in points too.Remember that you are an Englishman and thus have won first prize in the lottery of life.0 -
Great stage (apart from an interminable haul through a seemingly endless road tunnel), a cavalry charge up the mountain:
