Well i think ive contaminated my rear brake while cleaning as i can now push the bike along while holding rear fully on.

Ive took the disc off and pads out and cleaned them up using some brake cleaner i had lying around however this hasnt helped. Any tips or tricks as im riding on wednesday morning so wont be able to order new pads disc off net etc?

Thanks

You can burn off oil etc... If you get them hot enough with a blow torch

You could, horror of horrors, go into a shop.

that sounds like a little to much for me to handle. so looks like im spending money. will i need new disc and pads or just the pads?

Discs just need cleaning, they don't absorb gunk. Pads do.
As a rule keep everything away from brakes except fresh water.

  • did the same thing the other day on my X2s
Ended up removing caliper and pads, cleaning the disc with Ether, sanded the pads to get rid of that glazed look, reassembled everything then aligned the caliper and bed the pads back in

    Problem now sorted
