Am doing a 160 mile tour.

Am wondering whether my wheels will be up to it?

I will distribute weight between Front Handlebar bag and rear panniers.

The Bike is a Steel Audax Bike

I wouldnt use them on a long tour but 160 miles with around 12% weight increase isnt alot of abuse.

That should be well within the design capacity of the wheels, especially if distributed. The one thing to be careful of when touring on a light bike is to be particularly careful about potholes and rough roads - the 'dead weight' of a loaded bike hitting a hole is significantly greater so damage is a bit more likely.

Wish I'd known this doing the coast to coast ... sound advice
