When to buy new handlebars??

I know it's a bit 'How long is a piece of string' but when do you guy's decide its time for some new ones?
I've got a set 750mm Nukeproof Warhead bars which must be about 3yrs old at least and have been around quite a bit, including the ground......several times! They're not bent or anything but definitely show some scars of enthusiastic use!
What with an impending Morzine outing just around the corner do I invest or not?

Same as the frame, when they break. Anything from 1 day to 100,000,000,000 years. No longer than that though.
