Amstel Gold Race Route

Hi everybody

My brother and I are going to Amsterdam this October to watch the last three days of the Amsterdam 6 days race. While we are there, we would like to ride the last 100 KM (approximately) of the Amstel Gold Race Route.

Does anybody have the route in Garmin GPS format? The official website for AGR isn't particularly helpful or maybe it's just me. Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Hi there. You might have better luck with this question in the Pro Race forum, or even the sportive forum as I think there is an Amstel Gold sportive, so someone may have ridden it.

Don't know about Garmin versions, but am sure there must be some floating around on sites like mapmyride, etc; but the official website, http://www.amstelgoldrace.nl/, has the routes of both the race and the sportive/audax ('toerviersie').
It's all loops and circuits on a very small area though, only worth following exactly if you really want to do the official route rather than just a scenic ride in the area.

I'm sure you'de figured that out, but just in case, it's not incredibly close to Amsterdam really - Maastricht is 2 to 3 hours away, and the Tour of Flanders terrain for instance is pretty much the same distance from Amsterdam

I'd recommend riding the 150k sportive route (or most of it), as the actual AGR pro race does loops of a sort, going up the Cauberg a few times, so repeats itself a bit in the last 100k. The 150k AGR sportive route takes in all the major climbs in one big loop and is the nicest of the sportive options imo.

Compare the pro route http://www.amstelgoldrace.nl/index.php?pageId=32 to the tour route http://www.amstelgoldrace.nl/index.php?pageId=42

For a GPX, see here http://www.routeyou.com/route/view/1012 ... e-150km.nl (download button at bottom)

If you are planning on doing this on one of the days of the six-day, beware the traffic. You could end up spending all your time stuck in one of Hollands many daily jams :(

    Thanks for the tip

We plan on going to Belgium on Saturday October 22......guess an early start must be on the agenda to avoid jams!

You should be OK traffic wise on a Saturday, but if you are planning to get back to Amsterdam for the evening, bear in mind its about a two and a half hour drive to Flanders.
