This is both a big 'thank you' to the folks that organised this:
http://forcecancercharity.co.uk/fundrai ... lenge-2011
and a 'heads up' for next year, if you fancy a superb sportive in Devon (though only 1,000 places available!)
I've just finished it, and it was superb - a really good 100-mile route (there's a 55 option as well, but that misses out the wonders of Exmoor), really quick registration and get-away (I arrived at 7.30 for the free breakfast, and they got all the 100-milers away at 8.00). There were excellent food stops every 20 miles (with more lovely cake and sandwiches than you could possibly eat) with friendly helpers everywhere. It was well signposted, and the sun shone and it wasn't bowing a gale. No timing chips, but who really needs those these days for something that isn't a race?
Congratulations and thanks to all involved for a brilliant day.
That's all.

I will echo Brian's comments. An enjoyable ride and a good scenic route.Genesis Croix de Fer - my new commuting mount
Saracen Hytrail - the workhorse - now pensioned off
Kinetic-One FK1 roadie - the fast one - hairy legs though!
Cannondale Jekyll Lefty MTB - the muddy one which keeps tipping me into gorse bushes!0
