Afternoon.... I'm hoping that one of you tech chaps can point me in the right direction....

so..okay, back from LBS this morning, and i need a BB with a longer axle so that i can get my cranks further from the large rear wishbone and so my front ring clears the frame

fine, it came off my donor bike, so nothing lost, it's currently a 113 so i'll get the 118

just trying to order one online and come up confused again.....

the one i took out was a Truativ giga

BB-03-GPSL-113-68(E)73

so 113mm spindle..check..need the 118 length axle

however it then tells me that it's...

68mm with spacer on right
68mm with Chain guide no spacer
73mm shell no spacer

so i'm confused, do i need a 68mm or 73mm BB???

i measured the bike and it's 68mm, the thickness of my chainguide is 3.5mm (so total of 71.5mm)

so should i be running a 73 with spacers or will a 68 be fine......

I was looking at superstars ISIS with integral bearings ( as they've had rave reviews) but should I be going for the 73/118 or 68/118 (http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/product_ ... ucts_id=31)

or the FSA platinum here:- http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... delID=2962 again in 68 or 73 mm wide

cheers for any advice :)

68mm, chainguide, no spaces. As that matches your setup. Surely?

    that's what I thought

but I'm worried that the Truativ that i took out is really a 73 with spacers rather than a 68 without... if that makes sense

it is both. you just run more spacers with a 68mm BB.
