Was out with the cycling club today on about 20 miles of 80/90 miler, when i got stung in
the mouth by a bee.
Ended up being rushed to hospital by ambulance as my airwaves were swollen and could not breath.
Spent 4 hours in hospital on drip until swelling went down.
So all you guys that cycle remember to keep the mouth closed, they said i was very lucky.

    reminded me of that limerick

There was a young man from Dundee,
Got stung on the neck by a wasp.
    When asked if it hurt.
    He said not very much.
It can do it again if it likes!

except your assailant was a bee. As much as I like bees they do hurt, you were very lucky you were not cycling alone or in milan, which reminds me

There was an young man from Milan,
    Whose limericks never would scan.
    When told this was so,
    He said, 'yes, I know.
'But I always try to get as many syllables into the last line as I possibly can.'
The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns
momentarily from the herd and thinks for himself.

There once was a man from Iraq,
Who had holes down the length of his c*ck,
    When he got an erection,
    He would play a selection,
    From Johann Sebastian Bach

Nasty! I hope you're ok now. Mr ANds got stung on the face twice in 2 days when out riding last year. He didn't really react to the first one but the second one made him come out in a burning rash over various parts of his body, and his mouth and throat/ear started to swell so ended up in A&E too, on steroids. He always keeps anti-histamine tablets in his saddle bag now.

I'm allergic to bee stings, which is a bit of a problem for an entomologist. Had a nasty moment on Friday out riding when a large hairy insect flew into my mouth and stung me. There was a couple of minutes when I was waiting for my throat to start swelling and I was wondering the best place to stop and collapse; in the middle of the road where a car would see me, but I might get run over, or on the verge where I wouldn't get run over, but I might not be seen. Fortunately it must have been a wasp as I just had a fat lip for the rest of the day. I'm glad it worked out OK for you, I've ended up in hospital once after a bee mouth experience.

Glad to hear your'e ok sounds really nasty, i was stung on the ear by a wasp that got stuck in my helmet, why on earth it had to sting me? then within 10 mins another bugger hit me on the lip, altho it didn't sting me, i did think of what the consequences would of been had it entered my mouth.

I slow down if I close my mouth cause I can't get enough oxygen through the nose fast enough.

Bees can be lethal during a ride, my father in law got stung last year in the neck, and passed out causing him to crash into a tree. Was quite a sight to see when he was riding and then wasn't there.
