York to Preston

I hope to be cycling back to Preston from York in a couple of weeks and Im looking for some advice and possible routes to get me as far as Hellifield/Gargrave/Long Preston.

Im hoping to cycle on quite b roads as much as possible but I have no idea on the road network for the first part of my journey.

Can anyone help please?

    You could try following the "Way of the Roses" coast to coast route,it passes through York and within a couple of miles of Gargrave.
    Although it will not be the most direct route,it is well sign posted and is a dedicated bike friendly route.
