I have a brand new Specialized S-Works Stumpjumper 2008 & a brand new Specialized Epic Expert Evo 2011.

One has to go! Which would you choose!!!!!!!

I love the modern ride and design of the Epic with double chainrings and geo but the 08 S-Works is still like the day it left the shop and is all top end spec

Its a tough one so Id appreciate your views, they both have brain / similiar travel etc but the S-Works weighs alot less but has older components etc

    Erm

I don't understand this post, why did you get two bikes which are "brand new" if you then need to get rid of one?

    I don't get this at all :?

Why get rid of both? If you are to provide an answer can it have some substance behind it!

Resale value will be higher if you sell the Epic Evo fast, that said, I'd rather have that than the the Stumpy. Seems like a very broad, efficient, do everything bike.

Shirley the fact that the Stumpy looks like new means you aren't riding it much anyway (assuming you didn't buy a 2008 model discounted in 2010/11)?

Is it the FSR Stumpy or just the hardtail version? Either way I'd be inclined towards keeping the Epic, but it's really down to what you need to ride what you ride.

Find out which of the two frames you prefer, and then put the highest spec parts of the two on that frame. Then build the remaining frame up with the remaining parts and sell it.

Having had a quick look at the spec list of both, I would keep the s works, but (assuming the seat tube diameter of both is the same) put the command post and possibly the brakes from the epic on it.

Thanks Leaflite, the brakes on the S-Works are better / I prefer them over the Elixirs but they both do the same job and theres not much in it! Bizarrely I was thinking about removing the Command Post and saving 300g on the Epic as the command post is great but for 99% of my training / rides its unused.

Will continue to ponder it as having rode both theres nothing in it at all, both bring different special bit to the ride and both perform outstanding.
