does anyone use bar end rear view mirrors on a road bike.

Are they useful in traffic etc?

Rule number 971. It doesn't take long in any cycling thread before someone starts quoting the Velominidioti

But serious are mirrors that bad? I am talking about the small oval that slots into the bar end, not obtrusive at all.

Why not try them and see what you think? They are not that expensive and easy to fit/remove.

I have seen quite a few folks with them but a high proportion did have scraggy beards and grey T shirts.

Never tried them myself as I have felt no need but I can understand the benefits. They would look a bit strange on something nice and bling though.

I'm not riding at moment because of major Op on neck, but when I had problems pre op I found this Blackburn mirror very useful due lack of neck movement problems.
Hopefully will be allowe to ride again in next couple of months and it will be fitted again.
Fits on the brake / gear lever with velcro [not bar end.
    Cheers, Scurry

  • Whilst I apreciate that there is no substitute for looking over your shoulder I have never the less fitted a sprintech mirror to each of my road bikes and I find them very useful.
