Yup. Though sometimes it's a pain since wire bead tyres seem more likely to have rough/misshaped beads. But I've never had much bother, one swampthing that needed a bit of knife work.

Really? Even with a powered compressor with a huuuuuuge reservoir, I couldn't get a wire beaded high-roller or Minion to seat, at all.

Yeah, they've always popped on easily enough. All singleplies mind, never tried a dual. Minions and swampies and maybe a highroller, can't remember if it was foldy.

what? I pumped mine up with a crappy plastic track pump!

Dual ply minion and high roller.

If it was a foldy, then it wasn't wire beaded.
I couldn't get a wire one to seat for love nor money, very strange. Was a supertacky highroller 2.5", I think.

Yep, that's why I said "maybe a highroller"- I can't remember if it was a folding one or a wire bead one I used.

Oh I see, sorry. I misunderstood. I thought you were trying to remember if they were folding that you managed to fit.

I'm with you on this one. Just spent the last 1/2 hour trying to get my wire beaded highroller to seat with no joy even tried using a specialist compressor I have for air nailers that can run at 29 bar to try to give the tyer a quick (big) blast of air and still no joy. Admitted defeat now.

  • I have found the trick with getting the wire beaded highroller to seat on the rim is deffinately to drink a beer before trying! Just had another go (after drinking a few bottles of heiniken) and it went on the rim first time and went up first time.

I prefer wire bead for tubeless, less likely to blow off the rim.
Why would I care about 150g of bike weight, I just ate 400g of cookies while reading this?

    Please explain.

Whilst I'm waiting for that, I'm off to borrow the compressor and drink some beer
