Yes, im a newbie to MTB'ing as a whole really and ive just bought a VooDoo HooDoo from Halfords today, got home and tightened the screws and bolts, pumped up tyres a bit ect and sprayed that stuff they sell (lubricant and protector thing) all over the bike..
i then took it out on a rather muddy woodland track and got it into a state which it should (caked in mud)
What should i be doing to keep the bike up to scratch?

What 'stuff' they sell? I wouldn't spray anything all over any bike.
Give it a clean, keep the chain lubed, give it a once over before riding, fix as things wear out, or more likely as you break things crashing.I don't do smileys.

Pretty much everything will be aluminium anyway which doesn't rust.
Get a decent chain lube - Squirt is good, some light oil for the bits that need it.I don't do smileys.

make sure you don't get that spray lube anywhere near the brakes! That's a surefire way to ruin your pads0
