I have seen a 90s Pinarello Surprise for sale with Chorus and Rolph wheels. I believe its an aluminium bottom of the range frame but is it any good?

Depends on the condition and price? What was low-rent Pinarello then was mid-range for most others. Chorus kit is pretty robust but check the condition of the Rolf wheels - some had pretty cr@ppy hubs and spares might be tricky to obtain.

its up for £550 ono. It looks in good condition. They are deep section, 25-30mm, alu Rolf Vector wheels and the braking surfaces look pretty flat. Not sure about the bearings. Id have to change the stem to a shorter one and not sure if its 1" or 1.25". Its not quill anyway.

That's a fair bit of money for a bike of that vintage/spec - seen the Alloy/carbon Prince sell at that sort of figure.

A couple of years back, I bought one for £720 with Campagnolo Athena 11 and Kysrium SL wheels (red spoke/carbon hub lovelies) - needless to say, the frame got stripped down! :D

I would have said £500-tops - the bike is probably 10 years old and although it was probably about £2k new, you can buy a similar spec bike new for less than a grand - whilst prices have held, specs have gradually improved over time as production costs have reduced due to far east manufacture. The problem with Rolf wheels was the quality of some hubs - but rim replacement may be near impossible too.
