As I am using my HTC Desire's superb Android Cycling applications and GPS navigation more and more I am looking for advice on mounting options for my smartphone;
Does anyone have any recommendations and is there a waterproof/splashproof option worth considering?

err dont, it will get broken - keep it in your bag as you are supposed to keep your eyes on the trail
but if you have a lighter port fit a fax/copier combo0 -
Don't know about the HTC, but as you mention the iPhone, then the biologic is pretty good. I haven't had any problems with it

You can get strong specific mounts for the Desire.

Is probably the best but I'd still wrap it in a sealy bag and extra secure it to the mount with elastic bands.
For weather proof try this:

Or you could get the oversized battery and cover and cut holes in the area over the SIM and Micro SD and use a universal mount + sealy bag and elastic bands.
Or what about an arm band?I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.0 -

I have been thinking of getting a mount for my iphone 3gs for some time. Haven't done so yet. Been keeping it in my backpack. Some reviews here http://www.londoncyclist.co.uk/cycling-accessories/iphone-bike-mount/. You did say iPhone too.Ride Safe! Keep Safe!

I too am after a decent mount for an iPhone 3G that keeps the phone secure. Am not too bothered about the waterproofness as will be fair weather only.
The Dahon seems a bit steep in price for me.
Also any decent apps that can be recommended?0 -
I dont think i'd trust a bike mount for a phone, it would either fly off and break, get stolen at traffic lights or the vibrations of the ride would shake the insides to pieces! i'd find a pocket in a rucksack or bum bag that you can get to easily instead.www.conjunctivitis.com - a site for sore eyes0

My wife and I both have the Dahon Biologic iPhone mounts. Her's came flying off her handlebars & went bouncing down the road; the cover was scratched but the phone was fine and undamaged. Dahon (Discount Bikes Direct,) replaced the faulty mount immediately. The original unit my wife was supplied with had a manufacturing fault (one of those things I guess...) Mine has been rock solid since day 1!0
