Revelation SL's is the negative cartridge blown?

HIya Gents,

I think the negative cartridge on my fork is blown. The fork will compress with some serious force, but once they return to full length the stantions feel like they are extended past normal. The are so firm infact, that it feels seized (although its not)

Pressures are the correct.

I have deflated and re inflated several times.

Anyone in the know got an opinion?

Thanks

    Air forks?

What pressure have you got in each chamber?

    Pressures correct.

Are you sure. I would let them out and start again.

With all due respect, I wouldn't say yes unless I was sure.

So it's dual air and you've got the same pressure in each chamber?

    Deflated and reinflated?

Sounds like there's no rebound damping too.

+ve and -ve have been deflated and then re-inflated to factory settings

I put everything back to factory settings

I Just had a little look at the reference manual to see the difference between rebas and revs and there appear to be few, so here is what I would do:

1 - check the valve on you pump and the valve on the +iv and -ve (not blocked or broken)
2 - check all the seals are in place and that they lubed and in good condition (check the +iv is not dry)
3 - check the hole in the -ve chamber separator which allows air in is not blocked

Check that your dampener is not the problem it sounds like this might be the issue.
service both left and right, change the seals if required.

My gut feel says its valve related, a blockage or issue with the Right hand side.

The psi guides on the forks aren't always right.

Have you got any rebound damping, wind it to max (the tortoise) and see hwta happens when you compress the fork and then release it. Does it come up slower and with a squelchy sound?

I didn't think of the valves, I will have a look! I will be very please if this is as simple as a valve!

I'd say the compression damping is not looking good either. If the forks are very hard to compress. Maybe the lock out is stuck on?

Or the pressure gauge on the pump is stuffed and they have 1,000,000 psi

Its possible, I will strip the fork and check, but it doesn't feel like they locked out and that doesn't explain the stantions wanting to extend past the normal range.

I use the same pump for all my forks and the rest are perfect, but I will have the lbs pump the forks tomorrow and confirm.

So I guess the good news is, that nobody thinks its a cartridge.

What exact pressures are you using, and what sag are you getting? What is the length of the visible stanchion when fully exteneded? What is the travel of the fork?

    Revelation 32 SL 140mm

there is no sag at all. I can't measure the forks stantions at the minutem cause the bikes not with me, but from the looks of it, they are at absolute max!

The exact pressure is 135psi in both

If you deflate the chambers fully, will it fully compress?

I think you may have too much air in them. I can hardly compress my Rebas with that in at all. Try setting sag to 30% and riding. Probably will be a good 30psi less in each chamber.

If that fails, then a strip and service is needed I am afraid.

And ignore the factory settings this time.

135psi is what I run on all my forks. I weight 220lbs mate, its firm but its been good for the past 8 months.

This is problem is a new development with tried and tested settings.

in that case a strip and service should hopefully sort you out.

Have a look on You Tube, SRAM have videos on how to service their forks.
