I wear my Endura padded shorts without boxers, but I do wear a pair of baggy shorts over the top

Never wear anything underneath. It completely defeats the purpose.

How does wearing a pair of boxers defeat the purpose? The purpose is to provide padding..

I wear my undies with these on top.

The purpose is to provide some padding and to eliminate seams, etc that would chafe. I'm sure you can buy seamless sports underwear (I suspect I own some running shorts that have it), but that just seems pointless when you're already going to be wearing a liner.

Out of interest, genuinely, what's your reasoning for wearing something under?

Well, so others (family possibly) don't see my tackle as I pull day pants off and put humvees on AND I just thought it would be norm to wear undies. Would feel wrong but I suppose I could give it a try although never have problem with chaffing while riding.

Never anything under padded shorts for me. The boys just heat up more and it's more uncomortable.
  • i useally wear something under them but il try without and let you know as in the summer i agree it gets quite hot.

the only reson not to is that their liner shorts have that anoying strip in the legs to stop it moving up and down which allways rips all my hair off my legs when i put them on and makes me feel like a woman.

I found that with the leg hair now I just roll the band over until it's in place then flip it back down to stop them riding up
  • ^^ i was trying that untill it rolled down at the wrong time and stripped me of my man hair to a eye watering amount

another issue i worry about is that i seen people with simular gear on and when they take off the under shorts it can become "see-through".....dont want to scare the ladies

I have padded cycling boxers that I wear underneath the liner. I got them years ago as my ar5e hurt too much on longer rides but now I guess I've just got used to it. They wick well and provide extra padding so don't really have any "overheating tackle" issues

So, I have to do a commute - there and back.

I normally wear cycling gear and carry clean clothes to put on after a shower. Cycling gear then dries (hopefully) in the locker ready for the commute back.

What's the view on wearing 'normal' trousers with a liner or pad and then switching to normal boxers after the shower?

It would save a little weight but would I just end up with sweaty trousers all day ?

    Cheers, DBo.

Depends how long your ride is.. I only wear the padded liners if im going to be in the saddle more than an hour or two, otherwise just humvees wuth boxers underneath.

Why would you wear underpants under underpants? Because that's what liners are - underpants. Just with padding.
