I have a Truvitiv Stylo crank with GXP BB, do I have to replace it with another GXP BB, or can I use anything?

Thanks,

Steve

it has to be GXP compatible if you are keeping the cranks.

I'd pay the extra for a Truvativ one TBH, not that much more than a Superstar one, but the new ones seem much better sealed. I'm a fan of Superstar in general, but the BB turned to gritty rust very quickly.

I head the Truvativ BB's were poor and was thinking of getting the superstar one. Which one did you try bails87?

The Truvativ GXP bearings are shockingly poor.
There is a video on the Hope tech website that gives you some info about GXP B/Bs
    http://www.hopetech.com/page.aspx?itemID=SPG219

Plus enduroforkseals.com have some instructions on how to change the bearings on the Truvativ GXP B/B. plus how to remove and reuse the reducer/ sleeve/ bush that Truvativ use.

But you can buy deep-groove radial ball-bearings from a variety of places that can be fitted in the Truvativ B/B cups, once you have removed the Truvativ bearings.

I've had one old style truvativ, one superstar and just put in a new style truvativ one which is apparently much improved. It seemed to keep the grit out better than the old one, and is definitely better than the superstar one.
