Hi there,

Has anybody got any recommendations of where to buy helicopter tape online, for protecting against cable rub etc?

I've seen some here at http://www.biketart.com/products/biketape but haven't used the company before - has anyone used them?

I probably need a 50mm wide strip, and 1m worth.

If anyone has any recommendations then that'd be great.

Cheers

I ordered some from them on Thursday and it arrived Saturday morning. It's the first time I've used any and I had no problems with it at all.
They also gave me a £5 voucher off a £25 spend when I signed up to their mailing list.

I know the lad who sell it, you'd recognise some of his Pinkbike POD's if I could be bothered finding them ;)

I've ordered from www.helitape.co.uk a few times. Always arrives quickly and with a few cleaning wipes. It's quite a thick heavy duty tape compared to some too.

Loads of 3M bike/helitape on ebay. Does the job.

I just bought another few strips today as I plan on covering my lads new (Islabike Cnoc 16) bike in it to keep it looking shiny and preserve its resale value.

To be honest I'd probably be wise to cover him in it as well given the scrapes he gets into!
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

Err anywhere that you may pick up chips....so down tube, under the bottom bracket, under the rear stays and on top on the chain side to prevent chain slap damage....

Also keep some for the missus when she has her moaning head on

Slightly different question. What is the correct way (or how do you) to remove this tape? thinking of putting it on the car but would like to remove when lease ends.

I haven't tried it but a tiny bit of WD40 to remove any sticky residue, or I believe you can get specialist adhesive remover.

You'll not be cutting much outta that...5CM?

I use it to cover the area between the chain and frame, where it slaps - got it from Ebay.

Perhaps the manufacturers should start putting this miracle stuff over the entire frame - no more stone chips!

Both the Specialized bikes I have bought for my son have it on the chain stay and this seems a very good idea. Dont know whether Spesh do it or it was the LBS but it makes alot of sense.

Another +1 for Paragon Tapes on ebay; I bought a 14 piece variety pack for £9.99; loads of cut's in there including some decent sheets to avoid chain slap on my 5 swingarm; so far. so good
